I recently had a life changing trip to Amsterdam and wanted to share all the details. Aside from the usual reasons people travel to Amsterdam (Red Light District, drug use, etc.) I found the food to be surprisingly delicious. With that being said, I wanted to share my favorite foods, restaurants or just overall food experiences I enjoyed in Amsterdam!

1. Mama Kelly's Amsterdam

Olympisch Stadion 35, 1076 DE Amsterdam, Netherlands

https://amsterdam.mama-kelly.nl/en/amsterdam-en/

This restaurant is the most expensive on the list, but worth every penny. From the amazing interior, to the great drinks and food. There also is an amazing view Olympic Stadium. The waiters were very attentive also. The restaurant had several hues of pink throughout. This is the perfect place for dinner with the girls.

2. Manneken Pis Damrak

Damrak 41, 1012 LK Amsterdam, Netherlands

THE MOST AMAZING FRIES I HAVE EVER TRIED. They were voted #1 Fries in Holland for a reason. Beware there will be a line if you do try these fries, but its well worth it. I would definitely recommend the original frite sauce on them. Best $4 I have ever spent. Don't sleep on these fries guys.

3. MOAK Pancakes (several locations)

Jodenbreestraat 144, 1011 NS Amsterdam, Netherlands OR Ferdinand Bolstraat 11HS, 1072 LA Amsterdam, Netherlands

This spot was the restaurant I looked forward to the most prior to visiting the Netherlands. I saw so many cute Instagram photos here and knew I had to see it for myself. The pancakes are great! The presentation alone is worth a visit, but the food is great too. I had the G.O.O.D. Morning Pancake (Greek yogurt, granola, cinnamon, strawberries, honey). These pancakes were more moist and not as filling as the pancakes I'm used to in America. I would recommend getting the pineapple mimosa and American bacon too. Both are great add-ons.

4. The Cottage

Linnaeusstraat 88, 1092 CP Amsterdam, Netherlands

This breakfast spot was a hidden gem we found a few blocks from our hotel. It was quiet and comfy. Nestled on the corner of the street with outdoor seating options. There was no wait (because we came pretty early) and the whole staff was polite and welcoming. Breakfast video above from The Cottage. I loved the presentation of our food.

5. Vegan Junk Food Bar

Eerste Van Swindenstraat 389, 1093 GB Amsterdam, Netherlands

I want to start by saying I got food from Vegan Junk Food Bar twice while in Amsterdam. Both times I had the "Daddy" sandwich (Crunchy No wing strips on pinky bun, Cheeze, lettuce, tomato, spring & crispy onion mix, pickles, blue daddy sauce). At this specific location there was a gelato shop too. The gelato tasted just as good as the food. My #1 recommendation for vegan food in Amsterdam for sure.

6. Freddy Fryday Oost

Linnaeusstraat 36, 1092 CL Amsterdam, Netherlands

This spot was another place we stumbled across by our hotel. We took our food to go so I'm not sure of the vibe of this restaurant. I will say it was unique to see a place devoted to fries in so many different ways. I opted for the PULLED CHICKEN (Homemade pulled chicken, mozzarella cheese, chicken mayo, honey, sesame seeds, spring onion & homemade fresh fries). The small was more than enough for one person. This place is great for a cheap eat in a city as expensive as Amsterdam.
